The day started off well enough, getting ready for Dad to come home on his lunch break so I could get a lift to our mutual work area, but Dragon called and offered to give me a ride to work and that way she could come over and visit for a bit. She got to watch me repeatedly run Jean out of the kitchen. Ever since Jean has needed to have a plate of food specially fixed for her she is constantly going into the kitchen, she always used to be so good about that.

Grousing about work )
Thankfully I'm off today (Monday) and will get to see James at some point. Yay! I wish the weather would have been a little cooler, more Bay Area like to welcome him home with, but hopefully it will start cooling off pretty soon. I can't stand this heat.

My Grandmother...sigh... My Grandmother gave a brown/tan leather jacket to my Mother that she wants given to James when he gets back today from Michigan. What's wrong with that you ask? She found this thing on the side of the road! She and my uncle were out driving and she thought it was a plastic bag from the flea market down at the high school near her house, but it turned out to be a leather jacket. So for the last few days she's been calling asking what the heck did my Mom do with it? I've barely seen my mother the last couple of days, she's off to work already when I get up and is pretty much asleep by the time I get home. We haven't thought about discussing a leather jacket. Grammie apparently asked her why she didn't just put it in my room on my bed. Uh, no. I don't want some strange leather jacket that she found on the side of the road on my nice black velvet bed spread and the green man tapestry that James bought for me! Ick. Turns out Mom had it out in the garage; this thing is huge. It's not going to fit James and I don't think he would want it anyway. I don't know if it's because she grew up during the Depression and times were particularly rough growing up because she lost her Father at a young age or if she's just a little nutty that she thinks we want clothes that she's found somewhere. I love her dearly, but yeesh.

Late Flight

Mom and I went and ran some shopping errands today and James called several times while we were out. Turns out due to some delays he got bumped to a later flight and was calling from Phoenix. Finally got to actually talk to him at around eight something and at that point he was going to be flying in to Oakland and was planning on taking a taxi home to Fremont since he wouldn't be getting in till about a quarter till two. I was trying to reassure him that my folks were fine with coming out to get him, but while we were talking the customer service staff had managed to get him into a flight that was leaving Phoenix at nine and was going to be getting in at around eleven-thirty in San Jose- and he's being bumped up to first class. Oooo. So we'll be driving out to the San Jose airport to pick him up. He had managed to keep his brother on their original flight since Bob has to get up for work at four in the morning; James called his boss and he was willing to let James work at one tomorrow instead of opening the store.
While out running around with Mom I managed to find several cute things to add to my stockpile of Toys for Tots donations. =D
It is entirely too hot right now. I know we've had a very mild summer this year and I'm very grateful for that since I'm definitely not a hot weather kind of gal, unless I'm up to my neck in water, but my house has been so blasted hot the last few days!
Didn't get a lot done today, vacuumed the house, ran errands...I'm very glad that I don't have to make James dinner. It's way too hot for cooking, my family and I opted for pizza.
Gotta get ready to go get James!
