The Ball was fun. James and I tried a line dance, where everyone follows in a line after a lead couple, but other than that we pretty much just watched. There were some lovely costumes and some rather ridiculous ones too, but it was fun admiring the outfits people chose to wear for the evening.
There seemed to be too many people madly careening about the floor for a couple that was unsure about steps to get out there without getting plowed into from all sides. I wasn't all that impressed by the music. They seemed competent enough, but they rather butchered a couple of songs and even I detected a number of off notes being played on the viola and bass guitar. Uh oh...once I can tell that the music is off there is a problem. It's not that I'm tone deaf or anything, I sing well, but James has trained his ear much more to hear musical nuances.
At around ten the Vampire Theatre started up. A couple acted out a scene from George Hamilton's "Love at First Bite." It was the scene where Dracula approaches the model at the disco and they dance.
The next act wasn't terribly good so I asked James if he wanted to call it a night and slip out. From there we headed over for a late night bite at Chilis. I'm sure some folks thought us odd, me in my green goddess gown and velvet cape and James in his kilt, but I don't care. It was fun getting all dressed up and going to something different. I would really like to learn how to dance well with James. I seem to have been bitten by the dancing bug, I saw a program the other evening that featured a couple of gals teaching belly dancing and I got up and tried the steps along with them and now I want to try learning that too.

Well, it was a really simple dance consisting of standing side by side holding hands and taking a step to the right (bringing the feet together), step to the left(bring the feet together), step to the right with feet together, and then bounce up on the balls of your feet, and back down...repeat...repeat....repeat.
We ended up stepping out of it after it stopped going in an organized circle around the room and somehow ended up with people crossing in front of each other within a tight little circle of space. Basically it fell apart.
I haven't done any "country line dancing" since my PE classes in high school. I never cared for it very much. I was very glad when I didn't have to do it anymore.

James bought a proper Campbell clan kilt about a year ago from a vendor at a local Scottish Games festival. It took forever for them to fill the order, he had to call the Better Business Bureau on them and Seven on Your Side (have you heard of that program?) before they finally coughed up the kilt, but he now has a wonderful kilt from his Scottish clan.

It was a bit of a headache getting the company to actually produce the promised kilt, but he loves it and he looks so cute in it. I love kilts! =)

Thank you, I still really love my user-name too. Perhaps you've noticed that one of my icons is one of JW Waterhouse's Psyche paintings. I thought that only fitting if I was going to dub myself "soul." ^_^
