James received a DVD of the recent "Battlestar Galactica" miniseries from his older brother, Evan for his birthday and we watched it together the other evening/morning and then he brought over the film so I could see the original. It was interesting seeing the differences in how the plot was handled. The original was so distinctly seventies in its style and plot.
I enjoyed both, but I thought the miniseries was beating us over the head with the point of them having to make horrible sacrifices in order to preserve the species. Plus the use of children in several scenes seemed to only be for ultimate shock value, which I tend to resent in films.

Don't get me started....

I was horrified with how SciFi handled the character issues between the old and new series. I could just scream with how SciFi screwed the entire storyline up. They messed over Starbuck, Commander Tigh, Boomer, Athena, and Count Boltar in the new release, and worse, they entirely screwed up the Cylon race and the religious mythology of the series (two key points to the 1978 storyline)! I'm so disgusted I could die.

She my blog for my rant on the issue, now that it's hot in my head.
