On a weird sort of connected tangent here... did you know that the T-virus from "Resident Evil" was derived from the saliva of a slug? I KNEW WE WERE GETTING CLOSER TO THE ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE ALL THE TIME!
...
Seriously, what an amazing breakthrough! I knew that AIDS researchers within the last few years were looking to the Austrailian salt water crocodile's immune system for a potential cure (these crocs can't catch AIDS... their immune system has had hundreds of millions of years to evolve, and are now considered the most advanced immune systems for known vertebrate animals in the world), but now they're looking towards the arachnid realm, specifically ticks?? It's ironic that a "pest" species that's known for causing disease (Lime's Disease) may hold the cure to one of the deadliest viruses in human history....
I KNEW WE WERE GETTING CLOSER TO THE ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE ALL THE TIME! LOL! Sure, sure. Any day now one of my neighbors will be standing at my door asking if they could borrow a cup of brains. ;)
It is an amazing development. Hopefully this will in fact lead to a cure.
