Tuesday/ Day Off With James
Jul. 20th, 2004 11:47 pmMuch to my surprise James was off today as well. Us getting days off together happens very, very rarely. We hung out around the house for the first part of the day while James updated his resume and filled out an application to Costco. After he completed that we went to the Outback for an early dinner and I now have leftovers for tomorrow, Ribeye and Mashed Potatoes...WOOHOO! After dinner James dropped off his application and then we went over to Newpark where a circus has been taking place the last few days. We got there a little before seven and the show was going to start at seven-thirty. We looked around at the outdoor attractions and paid a dollar to get in to see the reptiles and spiders they had in one tent. There were several gorgeous boas, three cute iguanas, three turtles (Two of which appeared to be mating. Turtle love! ), some other lizards, and tarantulas. Spent a while admiring them and one of the snakes checked us out through the glass. After that we watched children on the various rides and riding on ponies. A little before it was time to go in we went to check out what was called the smallest registered horse and it was claimed that he was only nineteen inches at the shoulder. I'm not sure about that, but he was a very small black and white Shetland. Seemed like an old little fella and seemed quite pleased by my pats and scratches. I felt an instant affection for the little guy. He turned around and looked up at me with big black eyes, a little murky with age and seemed to enjoy me talking to him and patting him. The circus is called Circus Chimera and it's similar somewhat to Cirque du Soleil that it consists primarily of acrobatic work and juggling. There were a couple of very clever clowns and there was a plant in the audience that did an amazing balancing act. He climbed on top of this prop and then began balancing on these cylinders that were about the size of coffee cans. At one point he was balancing on top of several stacked with boards in between and there were two on their sides facing different directions so he had two different axis' to try to balance on. That was pretty impressive!
Once the circus let out James took me over to Dennys and treated me to a hot fudge sundae. Mmmm...it's been a long time since I had one of those. Then he had to drop me off since he has to work open till close tomorrow and the next day.
Now I feel a little buzzed on sugar from the Sundae...hmm maybe I'll go watch a couple of episodes of "Witch Hunter Robin" while I try to come up with a wedding card for my cousin.
(By the way Mereru, James and I watched "Read or Die" last night. Good series! We both thought it was very entertaining. I commented on anime's affinity for having women in latex bondage/ Matrix-ish gear. Hehehe..I think we may have worked with a few people at B&N who have had almost the degree of book addiction that "The Paper" has. =) My love of books seems like nothing compared to that. Thanks for the loan!)
