Hey, that's me! That's a statue of me! They worship me!

Wow, how about that.

Pretty clever since it is described as an ancient statue. I take it you have perfected time travel?

I wish. Actually, I'm just much, much older than I look. If I had perfected time travel, would I be hanging around here?

You have a point there. So if you did time travel, when would you go? Would you go back in time or jump forward?

Time Travel

I'd go backwards. I'd like to visit Egypt when the Great Pyramid was about two-thirds built and see the whole engineering setup in action. I'd like to watch one of Shakespeare's plays at The Globe in Elizabethan England. I'd like to visit France in the time of the Impressionists, maybe hang around until World War I. I'd like to watch Monet painting one of those water lilies, or Rodin carving the Danaid. I'd like to be in Paris in the 1920s, maybe try to catch Henry Miller and Anais Nin in flagrante delicto. I'd like to live in San Francisco and Berkeley in the 1950s, visit the artists' colonies in Menocino and Harmony.

Not much point in visiting the future, it's upon us all too quickly as it is. It's time travel "the hard way". B^)}

And you? What times would you visit?

There are so many times that I would want to visit. I would want to travel back and see dinosaurs in person. I would travel back to Egypt several times at different points, I would want to see it during the reign of Hatshepsut, during the reign of Akhenaton & Nefertiti, I would want to see the pyramids rise, I would go back to Egypt in 1922 and watch Howard Carter bring out the treasures of King Tut. I would like to witness the construction of Stonehenge. I would go back to meet Da Vinci. I would like to meet John William Waterhouse and commission him to paint a dryad. I would go back to when Susan Seddon Boulet was still showing her art at craft shows and I would commission her to do a dryad piece as well. There is definitely more, so many historic mysteries that I would love to witness.

Stonehenge was on my mental list, truncated for brevity. King Tut would be cool — and since we're time travelers, we could watch the Egyptians load the treasures into the tomb, then fast forward and watch Carter excavate them! I like the idea of repeat visits to ancient Egypt. I forgot about Da Vinci — as an artist, though, you'd probably have more to say to him than I would. I like Waterhouse (especially Hylas and the Nymphs), but I had to check Wickipedia to remind myself who he was. And I was completely unfamiliar with Boulet, who's not in Wickipedia (maybe you want to add a page?), but I found her through Google. Nice. You have an interesting eye....

Thank you, I became aware of her about fifteen years ago or so. I found a poster in a print shop and it was love at first sight from there. I had always hoped to have an opportunity to meet her in person. Damn cancer. I actually started and maintain a LJ community for admirers of her work.
