Heather Visit Review
Oct. 22nd, 2005 12:20 pmHeather left on Tuesday morning. Early, early Tuesday morning. They left here before five am to get her to the airport. I woke up enough to be able to hug her goodbye and wave to her as they drove away. She called later to tell us that they rerouted her plane to pick up people that had been detained by another flight and she ended up being late for work.
I got to spend some time with her before going to work on Monday at four. We wandered around the Hub a little, she needed a raincoat for upcoming wet Oregon weather.
I was off on Saturday and Sunday. Saturday for the Kyler England house concert and I took seven hours of personal time on Sunday so I could see Heather more. James, Heather, and I checked out the new Pirate store on Saturday before the house concert. I wasn't terribly impressed. How much cheap Pirate brick-a-brack could anyone possibly need? The house concert went well. We ended up with a fine turn out, in spite of having had no responses at the beginning of the week. Thank you
mereru for suggesting to your folks that they attend, I hope they enjoyed themselves.
The next day we had been talking about going to visit the De Young Hatshepsut exhibit, but we were worried that with it being opening weekend and free that it would be too much of a madhouse so we ended up wandering around Santana Row instead. It was a celebrating the Musical Arts weekend so there were performers outdoors on stages playing. For a rather sickening heart stopping second I thought that I spotted Steve Kritzer amongst one group of performers. Shudder. Thankfully I was mistaken. I took a really cute photo of my folks, James, and Heather. They were all doing big arms so they looked like a squadron of Spit Fires. (Anyone familiar with the British comedian, Eddie Izzard should recognize that as a reference to his "Dress to Kill" show). After perusing some of the stores we crossed the street to have dinner at the Cheesecake Factory. It is so dark in there! "Turn some lights on!" It may have been because it was so dark, but I felt like nodding off for a lot of the dinner. Yawn...nappy...zzzzzzz... I felt so very nappy that I had a cup of coffee when we got home since I didn't want to be asleep that early in the evening.
Heather isn't sure if she'll be able to visit again before the holiday season gets underway.
