Petra and Monkey Boy Outing
Jul. 30th, 2004 10:46 pmCrawled out of bed semi early (Not as early as I had been, but not too bad.) so I could get ready to see my friend, Jason. Heheehehe...I refer to him as Monkey Boy a lot cause he a great affinity for primates. I do so often that I've noticed that AzurDragon will refer to him that way too.
We went to Baystreet near my house to have coffee (this is the only time that I partake of said concoction.) and then we agreed to go play pool. I love playing pool with him! I'm not terribly good, whenever I make a shot it usually comes as a distinct surprise to me and was more by chance than through any great skill. I couldn't believe it, but I won the first game! Well, technically he lost twice and I won once all in the same game since he accidentally hit the eight ball in very early in the game twice and we just decided to put it back out on the table and pretend it hadn't happened. Part of the great fun in playing pool with him comes from the fact that he gets about as excited as I do when I actually manage to sink a ball and that we come up with the most entertaining phrases when we are near each other, such as "pocket tease" (when a ball skims/teeters at the edge of the pocket, but still doesn't go in) or something like that. We get pretty colorful sometimes. All in all the combination of our two personalities results in us probably being much sillier than we are most of the time when we are apart.
After a few games of pool I managed to convince him to go out for lunch and he chose Japanese food so I ended up having Japanese food two days in a row, ah well. It sounds as though he has met someone that really cares for him and appreciates how wonderful he is, I'm glad. I've always thought he was an amazing person and deserved someone that agreed.
Then we decided to go wander around Newpark Mall and I actually managed to get him to recommend a birthday gift for him. He believes in finding the perfect gift for someone and doesn't like taking suggestions for gifts or giving suggestions. He finds it to be more meaningful if the person just finds something that they think suits him. I can appreciate that, but it can be a little...stressful feels a bit extreme...I'll just say I feel a certain pressure to find something perfect that can be a little harrying at times. Jason always seems to come up with something for me that touches me so much, that makes me feel truly special to him and I worry about mine living up to that. This time though he actually came out and said something that he wanted! He hadn't received Season six of "Buffy." I gave him season one or two, rushed to the store, they hadn't even unpacked it yet, but his Mother and, I think, another person ended up giving that to him as well so after that I think folks figured that someone else was going to get him "Buffy" so he hadn't received "Buffy" as a gift since then. SInce we were at Newpark we stopped by to visit my beloved, James and he had a coworker ring me up for "Buffy- Season 6" with his discount. Score!
Oh...before we actually went into the mall we stopped so he could get gas and I went in to the gas station store to buy gum. Jason came in to buy a pack of cigarettes and I jokingly turned to him and said, "But, you're only sixteen." and then the clerk asked for ID. (evil laugh). Then the guy commented that I looked as though I was only about sixteen and asked how old I was, "26." He then said I was old. 25 was okay or something like that, but after that you're old. (cough...uh...screw you!?...cough) Not sure whether I should be flattered that he thought that I could be just 16 or offended for him then proceeding to tell me that I'm old...oh wait, I know. I should just not care. There we go, that works for me.
Once we were done wandering through the mall we stopped in to see his Mom since he was actually in the area and nearly never sees her. It was okay visiting with her, aside from the fact that they both smoke indoors there. Eek! I took a shower afterward and had to throw all my clothes in the laundry, that smoke permeates everything! Oh well, it was still wonderful getting to see him. It was about eight-thirty after that so he brought me home.
James came over after work and we watched the DVD of "Hellboy" that he bought.
