The baby-safety class that El Camino Hospital offers to new parents (that Jeff, my parents, and I just took) was already warning parents not to use these, for this very reason. So the word is getting out, at least to parents who are actively trying to get educated.

When a bassinet hand-me-down came to us recently with a set of those, I just threw them away. As it turns out, the whole bassinet was ALSO recalled (thank you, CPSC recall website), and part of me is cringing at the thought that I have to throw the whole damn thing away, but what can you do? If it's unsafe, we're sure as hell not going to donate it or pass it on.
