New Octavia E. Butler Book
Octavia E. Butler has a new book out! I've been a fan of her writing for about the last thirteen years or so and she hadn't come out with anything new since 1999. Lazy wench! She re-released a couple of her older books in the last few years. A trilogy was released in a one book format. I hate that. Write something new! I've read the trilogy and I already own it in its original three book form. I'm not interested in purchasing it in a single book now.
I used to try looking her up in my computer at work every couple of months to see if there were any upcoming release dates for her, but I had given up on that about a year ago.
I even managed to track down a copy of her third book, the only one out of print because she no longer liked it, on eBay and spent about fifty bucks obtaining a copy of it so I could read everything she has written.
I was elated and stunned when I was getting ready to clock out the other evening (the time clock is now out on the sales floor and right next to the new release display for the Science-Fiction and Fantasy section) and I glanced over and saw an Octavia E. Butler title, "Fledgling" sitting on the shelf.
I borrowed it from work a couple of nights ago so I have the next two weeks to read it. Yay! I suppose I should consider buying it in hardcover to really support her writing, but except for the out of print book that I bought on eBay I own all her other books in paperback.
I first discovered her writing by picking up a copy of her book,"Dawn" at a used book store about fourteen or fifteen years ago.
