Batman Begins

I was supposed to go see this today with James, his brother Bob, and his friend Liz on the IMAX screen in Dublin, but I ended up having to rush around Ohlone making sure to get all my paperwork for OFK turned in. Got that mostly taken care of, aside from needing to take my Social Security card to them early on Monday morning. (Thank you [livejournal.com profile] dragonluk for your help in translating some of the paperwork). ^_^

James had driven me over to the walk in clinic in Warmsprings to get my TB results and when they came out with them I was told that my Father had called there to tell me that he found out that the office was going to be closed on Friday and that I needed to get the paperwork up there right away or I wouldn't have been able to teach on Monday. Ack! James had to drop me off at Ohlone so I could run around and get my fingerprinting done and he could go see the film with Liz and Bob. After that had dinner with Dragon at Outback and then watched some "Witch Hunter Robin" before James arrived.
After Dragon left I asked him what he had thought of the film and asked him if he would be willing to go with me to see it sometime and he suggested we check the times it was playing. We got in to a ten p.m. showing at the Fremont Theatre. All in all I liked it. The editing felt really choppy, like you weren't supposed to ever be able to focus on a fight scene and that was what would make it intense. I would have preferred being able to make out what was going on a little better than that. Something about the Batman mask bothered me, it made his face look really jowly or swollen or something. Didn't like the Rachel character at all. What a judgmental shrew. What an excellent portrayal of Gordon though! They did a wonderful job showing the beginnings of their alliance. The nightmare, hallucination imagery was nicely done. I loved watching Batman soaring through the Gotham skies. It gives one hope for the future of the franchise. I love the Batman character and I like seeing them trying to do justice to the comic.
