Phantom of the Opera Movie
Eeeee! There's going to be a Phantom of the Opera movie! There have been rumours about it for years, but Andrew Lloyd Webber is finally going to release a movie production of Phantom. Swoon. I wish they hadn't waited so long so that Michael Crawford could have starred in it, but they probably wanted someone younger that would draw more viewers. Apparently Minnie Driver is going to play the part of Carlotta, that should be interesting. Can Minnie Driver sing at all?

Interesting, I always wondered why he didn't release a movie version when it was selling out across the nation. OR even as it was starting to wan a bit to capitalize on it's popularity.

I think that's when the talks started...

I believe so. The rumors for who would play the part of Eric/Phantom have flown about...it was crazy. For a while I think it was actually being suggested that Michael Jackson play him and I've heard Nicholas Cage, Antonio Banderas, and John Travolta as suggestions. Eek! No! I loved Antonio Banderas as Puss-in-Boots, but Phantom isn't some Latin lover fellow and Michael Jackson?! Shudder. Scary...I want my Mommy!

I can't even imagine all the wealth of details and bargaining, etc. that has to happen before you can even start production on a movie. I do believe Stride is right that the rumours of a film started up around the time that the musical was really popular. It certainly seemed popular all four times that I went to see it.

I know the "soundtrack" sold very well. But your right, probably lot's of deals to make a movie version.

I'm excited! The movie I will probably only see once in theatre and then (if it's any good) I will wait eagerly to snatch it up on DVD so it can be mine. ALL MINE!! BWAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!! *cough* I mean...uh...I'm looking forward to seeing it as any intrigued hopeful fan would. Yeah, that's the ticket.

Just wait for the movie. Whatever you do, this version sucks and isn't worth it.

Ack! I've read the description of that one in the Andrew Lloyd Webber "Phantom" book. Ick, scary. Abomination!

Sadly, I own a copy. But I was tricked, I tell you. Tricked!

(Grumble, Julian Sands is a better actor than that.)
