Fighting Eating Disorders

Spain Fashion Houses agree models are too thin.

Good for them. I've long thought that the women of Hollywood should band together and fight this frightening demand for women to be thinner and thinner if they want to get work. They create an unrealistic ideal. We should be sending the message to adolescent girls that women are beautiful no matter what their shape, it's being healthy that counts.

Too Skinny

Apparently the French have figured this out too.

But it seems the US Fashion Industry isn't quite on the Bandwagon yet.

which, in itself, is rather sick, if you think about it... being attracted to a child's body type... fantasies of pedophilia, anyone???
I've thought of that too. Women come in all shapes, but most of us have some meat and curve to our frames. I know as a species we are attracted to people as a potential "mate" because of signs of good health and youth, but this is taking that too far. These women remind you of a prepubescent girl that isn't physically ready to mate and bear offspring.

the problem in film is largely caused by directors and producers
Yeah, I know. I know it isn't the actresses that are the source of the problem, but I can't help, but think that if enough big name Hollywood celebs banded together about that issue that they could begin to affect a positive change in how people are cast.

So, in those pictures you show us on your blog, Anam, consider that those models are actually SKINNIER in person. Oh, I know! (retching)

may I point others who are interested in this topic to your links? I think passing this message on blog by blog is a powerful force for change
Yes, please do.

Women who are that skinny often are incapable of becoming pregnant, as their bodies go into a sort of survival mode. So any attraction to women that extreme is dysfunctional from a Darwinist perspective as well.

This is true. Good point.
